Communications is a force for good, that’s our mantra here at Orchard. So, what better charity to support than Citizen’s Advice Guernsey, who use their communication skills to give free, friendly and confidential advice to those who need it?
This year, we chose Citizen’s Advice as our charity of the year, to support them in amplifying their voice across the island to inform islanders of what the charity offers and how they can support you. They give free advice on relationships, employment, housing, and money; last year 4,000 people used the service.
Orchard’s mission is to:
- Raise the profile of the work they do – Citizen’s Advice is there to help every step of the way for islanders struggling to find solutions for their housing needs, money issues and employment difficulties. The charity also identifies emerging trends and issues and informs the policy makers about problems that people are having, to create long-term solutions
- Increase footfall into the charity shop – the store on Mont Arrive funds the charity, helping them continue to give their free advice and help those in need
- Create a new generation of advisors – the charity is made up of volunteers who undertake months of training in order to advise
We’ll be providing the charity with our communications expertise throughout 2023, on how to grow their social media platforms and make lasting impact with their followers, thereby increasing footfall into the shop and helping fund their important work.
