Case study – Launching the Channel Islands’ biggest technology conference with C5 Alliance

CHALLENGE  

C5 Alliance is trusted provider of technology solutions across the Channel Islands, advising, transforming and running IT solutions for some of Guernsey and Jersey’s biggest brandsAs part of its role in the community, C5 is passionate about sharing its knowledge and expertise with wider audiencesbringing to life some of the biggest and most complex IT challenges facing companies of all shapes and sizes.  

Together with Orchard, the company identified that the topic of Digital Transformation was keeping its clients awake at night. There was a clear opportunity to bring industry leaders together to help them explore and better understand the functions behind the buzzword, whilst also demonstrating the expertise of the C5 team and the breadth and depth of the company’s network. It also created a distinct opportunity to launch C5’s newly created Island Cloud platformwhich has been developed and tailored specifically for Channel Island businesses to deliver digital transformation through cloud technology  


APPROACH

Together, Orchard PR and C5 designed and delivered the Channel Islands’ first technology conference. Assembling an impressive line-up of international thought leaders, the inspiring programme sought to makreal sense of Digital Transformation through business case studies, common challenges and inspirational ideas.   

The size and scale of the event required a media strategy to match. We crafted media materialfor Channel Island titles outlining the inaugural nature of the event and highlighting the list of international speakers due to appear. Key assets were also provided, including speaker imagery and the Digital-X logo, which was specifically created for the event.  

In order to directly target the business community, we drafted social media posts promoting the event, several of which were supported with paid media to reach a wider and more targeted audience. Direct mail invitations to attend were designedmaximising C5’s client database. Orchard’s team also drafted an article for leading Channel Island title BGlobal, exploring the topic of digital transformation and pointing interested parties to attend Digital-X. 

Post-event, we created news release for local media outlining the key outcomes, including C5’s new Island Cloud platform. A series of social media posts and a post-event video featuring key spokespeople and delegates maximised opportunities to engage with the event through contentThe video will be used to promote the next Digital-X event.   


RESULTS

The news releases and article featured across Channel Island media ten times and reached more than 57,500 people. Jersey Evening Post’s business editor attended the event to interview key spokespeople, and there were 15 posts on Twitter, 15 on Facebook and 18 on LinkedIn.  

On Twitter, the posts were retweeted 31 times and liked by 65 people. On Facebook, the posts reached more than 69,500 people and had 2,000 engagements. The LinkedIn posts gained more than 160 reactions and 9,930 impressions.  

More than 150 Channel Island business professionals attended the event, with positive feedback and engagement received from key speakersattendees and C5’s partners.
