Orchard PR has sponsored the creation of a new information board at Le Jardin de Lorette, a nature reserve owned by La Société Guernesiaise.

Le Jardin de Lorette is an orchard in St. Sampson’s that was donated to La Société Guernesiaise by Mrs Lorette Domaille in 1997. The orchard holds 80 cider apple trees of three French varieties that are primarily grown as a food source for birds over the winter, they were planted by Guernsey Conservation Volunteers soon after it was donated to La Société.

La Société was founded to encourage the study of history, natural history, geography and geology in the Bailiwick of Guernsey, the conservation of the Bailiwick’s natural environment and the preservation of its historic buildings and monuments. The charity’s membership is open to all individuals, companies and schools and provides access to activities, meetings and lectures throughout the year.

Orchard’s Managing Director, Brooke Kenyon, said:

“Sponsoring the Le Jardin de Lorette seemed like a perfect fit for us. It is also only a short walk away from our offices and provides a beautiful spot for some fresh air at lunch. We hope that more people come to visit le Jardin de Lorette and enjoy the plaque which provides interesting knowledge on the animals that can be found there.”

Donna Francis, President of La Société, said:

“It’s great to have a brand new sign at Le Jardin de Lorette, we want to thank Orchard PR for making this possible. We hope the sign encourages more people to visit the orchard and enjoy the wildlife that can be seen while they walk around. Earlier in the year we held some bird ringing open days at Le Jardin de Lorette which were very well received. We hope to host more activities like this in the future.”
