Orchard plants roots in Jersey with new appointments

Communications agency Orchard has appointed two new staff, including its first Jersey-based team member, as it expands across the Channel Islands. Rebecca Lane and Puseletso Mashego have joined the team as Senior Account Managers in Guernsey and Jersey, respectively.

Managing Director (Client Services) at Orchard Brooke Kenyon said:

“It is fantastic to have two new team members on board as we kick off an exciting year for the agency. It has always been an ambition to have a dedicated team member based in Jersey and I know Puseletso will be an asset to our clients and Orchard’s brand. It’s also a pleasure to welcome Rebecca back to our team. I’ve always kept her on my ‘would hire again’ wish list and we're excited to see the value she will add to our client work.”

Get to know them better through these quick-fire questions we asked:

What is your comms superpower?

Rebecca: Planning – the planning part of any campaign is imperative, whether it’s blue sky thinking or to a budget, social, events or a media strategy, you need to ensure your plan is tight with timings, contingencies if things beyond your control go wrong. You can’t knock the planning stage!

Puseletso: My creativity! The ability to create something out of very little, with out-of-the-box thinking.

Where do you get your news each day?

R: The Guernsey Press and BBC website mostly, occasionally other newspaper websites such as Guardian or FT for some different views.

P: Google News. I like that it gives me daily snippets of worldwide news

Favourite social platform?

R: Tiktok, the algorithm is the best part about it, actually getting to see things that interest you rather than doomscrolling for something to make you chuckle or spark your interest.

P: The blue bird, Twitter. There’s something about talking to yourself on the internet while getting a dose of what’s happening in the world and reading sometimes great and most times useless commentary from strangers and friends alike.

Favourite way to keep organised at work?

R: If it’s not in my calendar, it just doesn’t exist in my brain. For client work, digital notes and excel planners are the way forward for me. If I write it down in a notepad, chances are I won’t look back at it.

P: The old school notebook and pen. The act of writing somehow helps my brain retain information.

Dream brand/client/industry to work for?

R: A political party, I’ve always loved politics and like to stay up-to-date on both the local and national goings-on. No day would ever be the same, that’s for sure!

P: The FMCG industry, because I’d like to use my creativity to influence consumers’ daily purchasing decisions.

Best thing so far about working at Orchard?

R: Picking one thing is difficult, the variety of clients and the people at Orchard. Working with people you like and get along with is important, especially in a smaller business.

P: Having always worked for large corporate environments, I’m enjoying actually feeling and knowing that I’m not just an employee number.

I’m reading...

R: A Court of Wings and Ruin, I personally love fantasy for a bit of escapism!

P: Will by Will Smith. It’s filled with many important life lessons you don’t realise while reading because you’re constantly laughing.

Favourite way to unwind?

R: Anything from baking, reading, playing chess to camping in Herm during the summer. It really depends on the time of year. You’ll either find me in the sea on hot days or baking brownies on cold ones, both are relaxing (and at least one is tasty at the end!)

P: Music (jazz, funk and gospel), gin and finding new places to eat… in no particular order.
